Inspiration and idea
Our story began in 2000 on the picturesque Côte d'Azur. During a trip with their trailer boat, the Renz family observed a neighbor labeling her fenders with a felt-tip pen. This idea, born out of necessity, inspired Fritz Renz, a textile engineer and owner of the Renz Jacquard knitting mill, to develop custom-made fender covers.
The solution - knitted fender covers
The innovative solution – which knitted the lettering in three layers all the way around – sparked great enthusiasm in its home port on Lake Constance. The innovative covers gave their owners' yachts a stylish and exclusive look.
Initial successes
Our first major success at the Interboot trade fair in Friedrichshafen laid the foundation for today's company, fender-design. Thanks to creative ideas, we were able to secure our first orders and continuously expand our product range. After completing her studies, Linda Renz took over sales and distribution.

Our uniqueness lies in the use of innovative materials such as Dolan fiber, known for its outstanding UV stability and durability. This fiber is otherwise only used by quality weavers (such as Sunbrella) for premium awning and tarpaulin fabrics.

Our premium velour is the best material for fender covers. Sand and dirt get caught in the commonly used terry cloth and thus chafe against the valuable gelcoat. Our premium velour, with its open, protruding fibers, even cleans itself.

Our unique knitting technique allows the yacht logo to be knitted in three times all around without it standing out from the surface and wearing out faster.
